Life of Wonder Woman
For most of Wonder Woman’s history, she was the daughter of Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons. The Amazons live on Paradise Island – Themyscira, where men are forbidden. At one point, Queen Hippolyta wanted a baby. The goddess Aphrodite instructed her to sculpt a baby out of clay. Hippolyta sculpted a baby out of clay, Aphrodite brought it to life, and Hippolyta named her “Diana”. According to one version, Aphrodite, Athena, Mercury, and Hercules all visited Hippolyta and her baby on Themyscira. Aphrodite gave the baby beauty and goodness, Athena gave her wisdom, Mercury gave her incredible speed, and Hercules gave her incredible strength.
